Jeong Hae-won
Café Course / Korea
Came to Japan in April
2009

Va was the closest school to the concept of a café that I visualized.

Q. What was your educational background and what were you doing in your home country before entering Va?
In Korea, I was studying the western history at the Yonsei University. Before entering Va, I continued to mainly study the modern history of France and the UK in graduate school.
Q. Why did you decide to enter a school in Japan?
There are lots of unique cafes in Japan, not like Korea. As I have a dream to open a café in my home country, I strongly wished to obtain knowledge and skills that were not available in Korea.
Q. How did you come to know Va?
My classmate from Japanese language school told me that she participated in and enjoyed the open cmapus day of Va. At that time, I was comparing various café schools, so I took part in the open campus day in the summer.
Q. What made you enter Va?
The open campus day made the best impression, and this is the main reason I choose this school. Va was the closest to the concept of a café that I visualized. By looking students, I felt "I too am able to study proactively", so I decided to enroll.
Q. Did you have worries or anxiety before enrollment? And how did you sort them out?
I was worrying about my age and lack of work experience at restaurants. But now, I am happy that I can challenge a new goal and dream. I enjoy learning, by utilizing the experiences and knowledge I received from international traveling until now.
Q. What is the best thing and the most memorable thing you experienced after entering Va?
The Va trip and what I learned about coffee in extracurricular lessons taught by a professional were fun and unforgettable.
Practice hours were the most exciting part of classes.
Q. Finally, could you tell me "your dream"?
With my own values and sense of beauty, I want to have a comfortable café, where customers get relief from everyday stress by enjoying something delicious.
